Mosquito control by drone

AIR PROVENCE - Drone services in France & Export

Mosquito control by air, particularly using drones, has proven to be an innovative and effective method for controlling populations of these harmful insects. This approach, authorized in France under certain conditions, offers many advantages over traditional methods. We are the drone mosquito control company you are looking for.

Authorization and regulation

The French National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (ANSES) has authorized the use of certain products for aerial mosquito control in France. These products include VECTOBAC 12AS, a larvicidal insecticide based on Bacillus thuringiensis subsp. israelensis (Bti).

Features of VECTOBAC 12AS:

  • Active substance: Bti-AM65-52

  • Concentration: 11.61% m/v (1200 ITU/mg)

  • Formulation: Concentrated suspension

  • Targets: Mosquito larvae (genera Culex, Culiseta, Aedes, Anopheles) and black flies

This product can be applied by air or ground, and its efficacy has been demonstrated in field trials, with an efficacy greater than 90% against Aedes caspius larvae at a dose of 1.7 L/ha, 24 hours after treatment.

Benefits of drone mosquito control

Drone mosquito control offers many advantages over traditional methods. Precision and efficiency are significantly increased thanks to the ability of drones to fly at low altitudes, allowing targeted application of treatment products, even in hard-to-reach areas. This approach also reduces noise pollution, as drones are significantly quieter than helicopters, minimizing disturbance to local residents and wildlife. Operational safety is improved thanks to the low-altitude flight of drones, reducing the risks associated with traditional aerial interventions. In addition, the environmental impact is reduced, as drones consume less fuel than helicopters, helping to reduce the carbon footprint of mosquito control operations. Finally, speed of intervention is a major advantage, as drones can be deployed quickly and cover large areas in a short time, ensuring optimal responsiveness to mosquito proliferations.

Intervention protocol

The drone mosquito control intervention protocol follows a methodical and rigorous approach, led by a certified applicator holding Certiphyto. The process begins with an in-depth analysis of the area to be treated, followed by the development of a personalized intervention plan. A detailed flight plan is then prepared, specifying the drone’s route, altitude and product dispersion points. The drone is precisely configured for optimal dispersion, taking into account weather and terrain conditions. Flights are executed automatically, ensuring uniform and precise coverage. During the operation, parameters are monitored in real time to ensure the effectiveness of the treatment. After the intervention, a detailed report is provided, including essential information on the treatment carried out, allowing its effectiveness to be assessed and future operations to be optimized.

Certiphyto required for phytosanitary product application services (In the case of France)

To provide phytosanitary product application services, it is necessary to obtain two types of Certiphyto. The first is the Certiphyto “Decision-maker in a company subject to approval” (DESA), which is required for the manager of the company. This certificate allows them to make decisions regarding the purchase, choice and use of phytosanitary products as part of the service provision. The second is the Certiphyto “Operator”, intended for employees who apply the products. This certificate authorizes these operators to use the products in accordance with the instructions given by the DESA holder. Together, these certifications, accompanied by the approval of the company by the DRAAF, guarantee professional and regulatory use of phytosanitary products during the provision of services.
